Pétanque Sportive Mondiale
One tool for every national federation: the player registry, competitions, national and world ranking points, and player transfers from one club or country to another. Each federation manages its own activities, in line with the international sporting regulations.
Demonstrator. All data shown is fictitious.
The situation
Federations each working on their own
Pétanque is played on five continents, but its tools remain local. As a result, nobody knows how many people really play the sport, or where they play.
Siloed licencesEach federation keeps its own file. A player who moves country starts from scratch and can exist twice.
Scattered calendarsInternational competitions open to elite players are not gathered anywhere.
Competitions on local softwareCompetition files on a single computer, manual exports to a spreadsheet, results published late.
Broken rankingsWithout centralised results, points do not add up from one competition to the next or from one country to another.
The platform
Four building blocks, in this order
The first block is the foundation: without a shared registry, neither licence checks at competitions nor a world ranking are possible. The next blocks are added once the foundation is in place.
Phase 1
Federations and players
- Shared registry with a unique PSM-ID for each player
- A management area for each federation: clubs, regional bodies, licences by season
- Transfers between clubs and between countries, checked against the federation's own rules
- Affiliation history: every player's movements are recorded
Phases 1 and 2
Competitions and ranking
- Open-access world calendar, fed by the federations
- Competitions in 5 steps: pools of 4 and 3, play-offs, knockout, then Swiss system and marathons
- Protected draw: no players from the same club or country in the first round
- Points added to the national and world ranking after each final
Phase 2 · to be studied
Entries and prize money
- Online entry with automatic licence check
- Entry fee payment, then prize money paid out through an approved provider
- This block depends on each country's financial regulations: a prior study is required
Phase 3
Live scores and broadcasting
- End-by-end live score, readable on a phone
- "Discovery" mode that explains each end to the general public
- Score widget for club, federation and press websites

What a signed-in federation sees
Choose a federation. Its players, competitions, national ranking and transfers are displayed. Click a player to see their record and history, or a transfer request to see the rule-by-rule check.
| PSM-ID | Player | Club | Category | 2026 licence | Points |
|---|
| Date | Competition | Level | Format | Teams | Status |
|---|
International competitions flagged by the federation automatically appear in the world calendar.
| Rank | Player | Club | Competitions | Points | World rank |
|---|
| Date | Player | From | To | Check |
|---|
This federation's transfer rules
Rules are not hard-coded in the software: each federation sets its own, within the international regulations. The check always gives the exact reason.
Licence check before a competition
At the scoring table, the PSM-ID is typed or scanned. The answer is immediate and gives the reason, never just "refused".
World calendar · open access
Every competition open to elite players, in one place
Each federation publishes its international competitions. Players, coaches and the public find them here, with the playing format and the points awarded.
World ranking and mobility
Points follow the player, wherever they play
Approved results from every federation feed a single ranking. Thanks to the affiliation history, player movements between countries can also be measured.
| Rank | Player | Federation | Competitions | Points |

International movements
Players who changed federation over the last three seasons (fictitious data).
Indicative points scale
To be aligned with the official scale in force before going live.
| Competition level | Winner | Runner-up | Semi-final | Quarter-final |

Principles
What the platform will not compromise on
International regulations apply
The platform applies the international sporting regulations in force and the national regulations, without rewriting them. Rules are settings, not code.
Each federation stays in control of its data
It manages its players, clubs and competitions. The shared registry only receives what the ranking and mobility require.
Minimal data
ID, name, sex, year of birth, nationality, federation, club, category, licence season. No medical or banking data in the registry.
Protecting people
Players are informed, with the right of access and correction, a defined retention period, and hosting compliant with the GDPR and national laws.
Built for the field
Usable by a volunteer on a phone, in full sun, with a weak or no connection. Five steps at most to run a competition.
Open to every nation
Free for federations. Interface in French, English, Spanish and Thai from the pilot onwards, then more languages.
Integration
On every federation's website, in minutes
WordPress and Joomla extension
The calendar, the ranking or a competition's results are displayed with a shortcode, for example [psm_calendrier] or [psm_classement pays="MDG"].
Import of existing files
Player lists in spreadsheets or CSV, files from current competition software: nothing is re-typed by hand.
Open access for partners
A documented programming interface lets federations that already have their own software stay in sync.
